The management of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) on Wednesday announced plans to close the runway of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja for two days to carry out rehabilitation.
A notice of the closure from 11pm on Saturday till 5am on Monday has already been issued at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Internatioal Airport, Abuja, a statement by the Coordinating General Manager of Aviation Parastatals, Yakubu Dati, said on Wednesday.
The notice has been circulated to all airlines, sister agencies of FAAN and other critical stakeholders.
This facility upgrade, according to Dati, is in line with the requirements of the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) and Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) approved safety and Standard and Recommended Practices.
Dati said this will further elevate safety and security to greater heights at the airport.
He added: “FAAN hereby apologizes for the inconvenience this temporary closure will cause air passengers and airline operators.”
