Access Bank Ghana Plc executives have paid a visit to former Ghana President John Mahama over the death of the group chief executive officer of Access Holdings Plc Herbert Wigwe.
Mr Mahama said in an Instagram post on Thursday night that the helicopter crash that killed Mr Wigwe and others on February 9 shocked everyone.
He also shared photos of himself with the bank executives.
“A delegation from Access Bank Ghana PLC visited me to officially inform me of the untimely death of my dear friend, Dr. Herbert Wigwe, the Group CEO of Access Holdings,” he wrote.
“Herbert was a friend whom I had the pleasure of knowing during my tenure as vice president. His dedication and efforts in making the Access Bank brand a household name in Africa and the world will always be remembered.

“I extend my heartfelt condolences to the Wigwe family, the management, and the staff of Access Bank during this incredibly difficult time.
“The passing of Dr. Wigwe, his wife, son, and friend, the former Chair of the Nigerian Exchange Group, Abimbola Agunbanjo, shocked us all and is very difficult to accept.”
Wigwe, his wife and son, who also died in the crash, will be buried on March 9 in Isiokpo, Rivers State after a funeral service at the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Lion of Judah Parish, Isiokpo.
