Access Bank has reacted following the arrest of a former employee accused of secretly recording female colleagues in a restroom at one of the bank’s contact centres in Lagos.

Stephen Ejezie, a former quality assurance specialist at the bank, was reportedly apprehended after he was caught recording a female colleague in the women’s restroom.

He allegedly installed a hidden camera in the restroom to film staff members while they were changing or bathing.

According to FIJ, the incident was uncovered when a female employee noticed a phone recording her from one of the toilet cubicles.

“She saw the camera by chance. She raised the alarm, and people asked whoever was there to open the door. That was when they discovered it was Stephen,” the publication quoted a source as saying.

Following the discovery, Ejezie was arrested and a subsequent raid at his home allegedly uncovered more than 400 video clips. The footage, reportedly filmed without the knowledge of his colleagues, was allegedly sold online via platforms like OnlyFans and Telegram.

In a statement issued on Sunday, Access Bank said it fully cooperating with authorities as investigations unfold.
“Our attention has been drawn to reports circulating on social media regarding an alleged offence involving a former Contact Centre Agent,” the statement read.

“The matter has been handed over to the appropriate authorities, who are conducting an investigation. We are fully cooperating with them in this process.”

While Access Bank did not provide specific details of the case, the bank reiterated its commitment to safeguarding the rights of both employees and customers.

“At Access Bank, we uphold a zero-tolerance policy towards harassment and any form of privacy violation. We are also actively engaging with the affected employees to provide all necessary support,” the statement continued.

The bank advised the public to rely solely on information from its official channels and reiterated that the safety, dignity and well-being of its employees and customers remain its top priority.

“We would like to thank the public and our stakeholders for their concern and support,” the statement added.
