Three persons on Tuesday died in an auto crash, while eight others sustained various degrees of injury on Ijebu-Ode – Benin – Ore Expressway.
Mr Babatunde Akinbiyi, the Public Relations Officer of Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE), made this known in Sango-Ota.
Akinbiyi told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that the accident occurred at about 10.25 a.m at a location adjacent the Southwestern University, near Odogbolu in Ogun.
According to him, the accident, which involved two vehicles and 18 passengers, was due to speeding.
He explained that a commercial bus marked AYB 836 XA heading to Ijebu-Ode lost control and rammed into a Truck with registration number SAP 844 XA, while trying to overtake it.
Akinbiyi said, “Corpses of the victims had been deposited at the mortuary of General Hospital, Ijebu-Ode, while the injured passengers are receiving treatment at the hospital.’’
He advised motorists to desist from speeding and reckless driving to save lives and property.
