Nollywood actor Jide Awobona has cried out over a mistaken identity with the Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
The actor in an Instagram post on Wednesday said that Nigerians are cursing, calling him out and blaming him for what happened to the victims of the #EndSARS protest instead of the governor.
“I am not your governor oo, you people should stop mentioning me, get the handle right,” he wrote.
This comes after his Instagram handle was mistaken to be that of the governor. Many Nigerians on Instagram tagged and cursed the actor instead of the governor.

Another post read: “If you are someone with common sense you will know that you can never defeat the youths cos they owned you and your foolish godfather @Jideawobona.”
Another read: “@jideawobona all the youths’ blood are on you.”
In another Instagram video, the actor said: “I woke up this morning to commensurate with the victims of the protest, only for me to check my Instagram page and be seeing mentions and tags as if I’m the governor of Lagos State. Jide Awobona is different from Jide Sanwo-Olu, please you guys should be very careful, I am not comfortable with what I am seeing.”
