The Actors’ Guild of Nigeria (AGN) has debunked the rumour about the death of actor, Olu Jacobs.
The guild labelled the rumour ‘fake news’ in a statement signed by its Public Relations Officer, Monalisa Chinda, and shared on Instagram on Tuesday.
“This is to inform the general public that our legendary Actor, Olu Jacobs is alive, very hale and hearty. Disregard the malicious rumor about his death making rounds especially on social media. It is fake news…,” it reads.
Actress, Lala Akindoju, had earlier shut down the rumour on Twitter, saying she had just got off the phone with the 77-year-old actor.
“Uncle Olu Jacobs is alive and well. Very much so. I just got off the phone with him. Please stop spreading fake news,” she tweeted.
Olu Jacobs was last seen in a video shared by his wife on in a video shared by his wife, actress, Joke Silva, on June 4.
In the video, the Dogs of War star is heard saying that he cannot remember his first movie role as it was a long time ago.
Neither Olu Jacobs nor Joke Silva has responded to the rumour at the time of filing this report.
