Nneoma Ukpabi, an actress who claimed to have been delivered of a baby girl through the late founder of the Synagogue Church of All Nations (SCOAN) Prophet TB Joshua, has been accused of fraud.
Nneoma, who was also the Imo State chairman of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), was suspended by the guild for “gross indiscipline and unlawful misconduct.”
Explaining the reason for her suspension in a recent post on Instagram, AGN national president Emeka Rollas posted a video of an injured woman identified as Favour who claimed to be a newly recruited member of the association.
According to Favour who also claimed she had been staying with Nneoma at a hotel in Asaba, Delta State, Ukpabi collected N400,000 from her with the promise to help her travel abroad. When she confronted the actress, the suspended chairman allegedly locked her up and asked her boys to assault her.
Weighing in on the matter, Emeka Rollas wrote: “Few hours ago, I got this report about how this lady was treated. I followed the matter through the Delta State chairman to draw a conclusion that the boys were complicit with Nneoma on this matter. “No new member or any human deserves to be treated in this manner. We have just suspended Nneoma Ukpabi indefinitely until she and her accomplices are brought to book and she clears herself before the National Disciplinary Committee.”
Nneoma had in November 2013 visited SCOAN to testify that she gave birth to her baby after she was sprinkled with the church’s anointed water.
According to the actress, she had previously undergone two Caesarean operations for her other children. She was booked for an operation for the third time because her placenta could not support the baby. The doctor reportedly stated that she could not undergo normal labour because it could become life-threatening. A friend brought her the anointed water from SCOAN, sprinkled it on her and prayed that the God of Prophet TB Joshua will deliver her.
Nneoma claimed that 15 minutes after the sprinkling, her water broke and she was rushed to the same hospital where she had been booked for the operation and she gave birth without the surgery, to the surprise of her doctor.
Testifying at SCOAN, the actress said: “This baby is just two months old and you can see how bouncing she is. This is a Synagogue baby.”
Her suspension from AGN came a week after she celebrated her birthday on October 17.
