Actress Ini Dima-Okojie has opened up about her ongoing struggle with fibroid, revealing that her fight is far from over.
In an Instagram post on Wednesday, the Blood Sisters star shared her journey and encouraged women to stay vigilant about their health.
“If you’ve been following me, you would probably know that towards the end of 2020 I had a myomectomy, which is an invasive surgery done to take out fibroids,” Ini said.
She explained that while the surgery was successful and she healed well, it has now been nearly four years since the procedure.
“But, unfortunately, the fibroids are back, which is honestly very disheartening,” she added.
Despite the setback, Ini expressed her determination to explore alternative treatments. “I definitely don’t want to do another surgery anytime soon,” she stated, “This time, I want to take a holistic approach in shrinking the fibroids, backed by faith.”
Highlighting the importance of sharing her story, the actress recalled the impact her initial disclosure had on many women. She announced her intention to pay for 20 women to get their screening done, emphasising the crucial role of regular check-ups.
The movie star also shared how she discovered her condition, crediting her sister for advising her to get checked after experiencing several symptoms.
Ini admitted she was initially hesitant towards testing for fibroid.
