After winning the social media best-dressed award at the recently held Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA), Yoruba language actress, Mercy Aigbe, has hit out at ThisDay Style for not listing her among the fashion heavyweights in the industry.
The current edition of the glossy magazine tagged ‘Nollywood’s Best Dressed’ is dedicated to the ceremony held in Lagos on March 5.
While Omotola Jalade Ekeinde and OC Ukeje, who were nowhere near the venue of the award on that day, were featured on the cover, Mercy was conspicuously omitted.
That got some fans of the Edo-born Satanic actress furious.
Not willing to let the snub pass by, Mercy accused publishers of the magazine of tribalism, querying: “Has @thisdaystyle ever featured a Yoruba actor on their cover? Aare Yoruba movies not part of Nollywood? Is Nollywood not supposed to mean homegrown Nigerian movies?
Among the women featured on the cover are Rita Dominic, Genevieve Nnaji, Stephanie Linus, Caroline Danjuma and Dakore Akande.
Selfie-loving Toyin Aimakhu and Funke Akindele were also snubbed.
