Actress Olayinka Adebanjo has appealed for assistance in her quest to become a mother again following the tragic loss of her only child.
Speaking on Talk To B podcast, Adebanjo recounted how her 28-year-old son, Adeniyi Ishola, a nurse, slumped and died while playing football.
She expressed her deep pain, revealing that she had explored adoption but ultimately desired to conceive her own child.
“I have seen a lot after the loss of my son. Some people have even mocked me, calling me barren in my old age,” she said tearfully.
“Adeniyi studied nursing and graduated. It was time for me to reap the fruit of my labour, but he went to play football and never returned.”
The actress, known for her radical roles in Yoruba films since 1983, disclosed that she had visited an adoption centre in Abeokuta and spent significant money on medical tests.
However, she remains determined to explore other medical options for childbirth.
During the podcast, host Biola Bayo suggested surrogacy as a viable alternative, estimating the cost at N15 to N20 million.
“I do not know how we are going to help Aunty Yinka. I want to advice surrogacy because of her age. All I need is just resources. With N15 to N20 million we can do this,” Biola said.
Adebanjo pleaded with Nigerians for support, saying, “Please have mercy on me. I do not want to be barren in my old age. I want to carry my own child.”
