The president of the Actors Guild of Nigeria Emeka Rollas has spoken on the recent crisis and sex for roles allegation in Nollywood, stating that actresses are now being marked for blackmail.
Mr.Rollas stated this in an Instagram post on Friday.
“Events of the last few days have shown that actresses are now marked for blackmail especially hinging it on the basis of a relationship gone awry. But should it be a reason for publishing private conversations without the consent of the other party?” he wrote.
Emeka also promised to set an example for bloggers profiling actresses for blackmail.
“We shall use this one to set an example to serve as a deterrent to all other persons including bloggers presently profiling actresses for blackmail to have a rethink. We will no longer fold our hands and watch our members taken to public ridicule via invasion of privacy. We are also looking into cases where our certified members have taken to social media to call fellow members out or make statements that can bring disrepute to our Guild or cause disharmony among members.”
Emeka had made an Instagram post on Thursday, praying for the relationships and marriages of celebrities.
The AGN president made the prayers following the recent marriage and relationship crisis of celebrity couple 2face and Annie Idibia and actress Tonto Dikeh.
Annie Idibia in a now-deleted Instagram post on Thursday, September 2nd, accused 2face of spending time with Pero Adeniyi, mother of three of his seven children.
Tonto Dikeh also broke up with her lover Prince Kpokpogri after it was alleged that he cheated on her. Several voice recordings of the estranged couple also went viral.
In the heat of the crisis, actor Odunlade Adekola was also accused of trading sex for movie roles, the actor however debunked the allegation.
