A social media platform Crowwe has applied for licence from the National Broadcasting Commission following the Federal Government’s directive for all social media platforms in the country to be registered.
Adamu Garba, chief executive officer of IPI, operators of the app, told PUNCH on Thursday of the company’s moves adding that the number of users had risen to 31,245.
Crowwe has risen in stock since the suspension of Twitter in Nigeria.
He said, “Crowwe now has 31,245 users with about 2, 270 business accounts. We have written a letter to the NBC applying for a licence in line with the Federal Government’s announcement but we have not yet received any response. If they don’t respond by Friday, we will send a second letter.”
The app was taken down on Google Playstore last Saturday, sparking rumour it was removed following complaints.
Garba told the newspaper that the app would return in a matter of days.
Garba said, “There are some lapses. It consumes a lot of data based on user complaints so we decided to take up some opportunities to do that. We have edited. We will upload it by Saturday or so.”
The former presidential aspirant blamed the recent removal of his Instagram page on his critics.
“So many people reported my Instagram page. It was disabled but it has been restored,” he said.
