Veteran actor Adebayo Salami has condemned an attack on his junior colleague Akeem Adeyemi by ‘area boys’.
According to actress Wumi Toriola, Akeem was attacked on a movie set by some thugs in the Gbagada area of Lagos State on Tuesday.
In the video she posted, the actor whose left eye was seriously bruised could be seen lamenting the attack in Yoruba language.
Reacting in the comment section of the post, Adebayo Salami condemned the act saying, “This is totally unpleasant. So sorry.”
Other Nollywood celebrities also joined in sympathising with the wounded actor.
Kate Henshaw wrote: “This is so wrong!! Why do these area boys always harass film makers?? Demanding money and the rest!!”
“Aha! This is highly unacceptable!!” Femi Adebayo added.
Kemi Afolabi wrote: “Omg oh no this nonsense has got to stop!! Sorry Akeem. #sosad Reply.”
Madam Saje also wrote: “This is an unacceptable experience. Though it is glad to know that the culprit has been apprehended by officers of the law, I enjoin the leadership of @tampanglobal to look into this situation as a matter of urgency. The safety and security of filmmakers is paramount to us. Beyond the physical assault, losing a day of production means more money have to be spent above the budgeted funds. No filmmaker wants to go through such stress.”
Meanwhile, it was gathered that the lady who ordered the attack on the actor has been arrested.
