Nigerian clerics, including the general overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God Pastor Enoch Adeboye, have begun calling for prayers for Ukraine following invasion by Russia.
Russian forces launched attacks on military formations in Ukraine on Thursday. Although Russia President Vladimir Putin insists that civilians are not the target, several persons have been killed and others wounded in attacks.
Commenting on the development, Adeboye said in a post to Instagram on Friday, “Our prayers are with Ukraine at this time. We join all the children of God around the world to pray for peace and stability in the country of Ukraine.”
Senior Pastor of House on the Rock Church Paul Adefarasin reposted to Instastory a call for prayer for the warring countries from his spiritual father, Bishop TD Jakes.
Also, the senior pastor of Daystar Christian Centre Sam Adeyemi reposted to Instagram a message from his wife Nike to Ukrainians.
“Our hearts go out to the people of Ukraine at this difficult time,” the message read.
“To you Lord belong the hearts of Kings, silence the rage. We pray that your peace envelopes the country of Ukraine, defend her cities and protect her people.”
On the possible evacuation of Nigerians from Ukraine, the Nigerian government says it is monitoring the situation.
