Singer and songwriter, Adekunle Gold, on
Monday cried tears of joy as his father, Adeyemi Kosoko, was sworn in as a permanent
secretary by Governor Akinwunmi Ambode of Lagos State.
The graphic artist-turned musician described
his joy at his 56-year-old father’s achievement in an Instagram post which
began with the word “I CRIED TODAY!”
Adekunle, who attended the swearing in ceremony in Alausa, Ikeja, recounted how he grew up watching his dad work so hard for so little to provide for four children with the help of their mother.
He also reminisced about his dad going to the
University of Benin (UNIBEN) for his first degree and graduating with
distinction.
“Every day, after his primary assignment as a
Fine Arts teacher in Keke High School, he would go to Teachers’ College to
teach other teachers.
“He was willing to do whatever it would take
to make extra money to fend for us and build a house for us to live in. I
almost forgot – he is a published writer. Brilliant Man!
“My dad didn’t literally sit me down to teach
me great values and diligence. Luckily, he didn’t have to, because I saw it in
him every day,” the 31-year-old born Adekunle Kosoko wrote.
He described his father as a man who refuses to cut corners, whose dream has always been to become a permanent secretary in Lagos.
Mr Kosoko was sworn in as permanent secretary
at a ceremony which saw Hakeem Muri-Okunola take the oath of office as Lagos State
head of service.
Also sworn in as permanent secretaries were Fausat Goncalves, Bolajoko Balogun, Olufemi Adeniji, Omobolanle Adelaja and Temidayo Lawal.
