Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate for Osun State in 2018, Ademola Adeleke, has faulted a statement by the spokesman of Buhari’s 2019 presidential campaign, Festus Keyamo, on alleged forged school certificate.
Mr Keyamo had on Monday said that by definition of ‘school certificate or its equivalent’ in Nigeria’s constitution, one is not required to possess the certificate to become president or governor.
He added: “Forgery occurs when the supposed author of a document denies ever making it or denies its authenticity. WAEC has confirmed the authenticity of PMB’s certificate by issuing an attestation of it. Case closed. In #OsunCaseScenario WAEC has denied the authenticity. See d difference?”
In a statement on Tuesday by spokesman of Ademola Adeleke Campaign Organisation, Niyi Owolade, the Senator said he never forged any certificate for election or any other purpose.
Part of the statement read: “We suspect that Mr. Keyamo must have been misinformed or failed to get his facts correctly.
“For his information and that of the general public, both WAEC and the school principal of Ede Muslim High school, Ede attested Senator Adeleke’s result through sworn affidavits before FCT High Court, Bwari.
“We advise the President’s campaign spokesman to get his facts straight before making public statements.
“Being a Senior Advocate of Nigeria demands that level of responsibility. Senator Ademola Adeleke did not at any time forge any certificate for this election or for any other purpose.”
The statement also said the principal of Ede Muslim High School, Ede; and
a Deputy Registrar of WAEC was summoned by the court where they both swore affidavits attesting the credibility of the statement of results presented by Adeleke.
