Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has appeared to refuse to shake hands first with the Ooni of Ife Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi at a public event.
In a video which has gone viral, Adeleke enters the venue of an event and walks towards a table where Oba Ogunwusi and others were seated
Oba Ogunwusi, in the footage, stretches out his hand for a handshake but Adeleke looks away and shakes hands with another traditional ruler before coming to the Ooni for a handshake.
However, media mogul Dele Momodu, who was with the governor at the time of the incident, said in an Instagram post on Wednesday that Adeleke left his seat to greet the monarch.

According to him, it was a sign of utmost respect for the first-class traditional ruler.
“This is the authentic video where Governor Ademola Adeleke left his seat to go and pay homage to His Imperial Majesty THE OONI OF IFE OBA ADEYEYE ENITAN OGUNWUSI OJAJA II as a mark of utmost respect for our foremost monarch,” he wrote.
