A cleric Ajayi Aderogbo, who is said to be the pastor of gospel singer Aduke Ajayi aka Aduke Gold, has debunked claims that she died during a surgery.
The musician died on Monday, August 12 at the University College Hospital (UCH).
Among those who claimed she died during surgery was Ibadan-based broadcaster Yemi Sonde, an associate of the deceased.
During his broadcast on Tuesday, August 13, Sonde recounted the late singer’s journey, shedding light on the trials and triumphs that shaped her career.
He spoke of how gospel musician Tope Alabi discovered Aduke’s talent, nurturing her and giving her the name Aduke Gold.
The broadcaster also highlighted the role played by Senator Michael Bamidele who sponsored the deceased’s education and provided guidance after she became an orphan at the age of four.
However, addressing the real cause of her death, Pastor Aderogbo said she was undergoing treatment for cervical cancer before her death.
“Whoever is saying what is not should just stop that, our daughter was ill, she had cervical cancer, she was taken to UCH Ibadan and unfortunately she died. And to the glory of God she rested on a Monday, all information spreading around are false,” he said.
Aderogbo recalled that Aduke started from the church as a member of the choir, adding that she was committed and faithful.
Aduke was born in 1990 in Ilesha, Osun State.
When she began her music career, many called her Aduke Penkele because of how slim she was.
She earned a degree in history and international relations from Lagos State University, higher degree in child psychology, diploma in montessori education among others.
