Senegal continued their impressive showing at the 31st edition of the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) by becoming the first country to book a place in the quarter-final.
The Terenga Lions followed up their grand opener in which they defeated Tunisia 2-0 with yet another superb display to beat Zimbabwe 2-0 on Thursday.
Liverpool forward, Sadio Mane, notched his second goal of the tournament to give Alou Cissé’s team a deserved lead after just 10 minutes.
This was followed by a wonderful strike from Henri Saivet three minutes later which doubled Senegal’s lead.
The result confirms that the West Africans will play in the last eight irrespective of what happens in the final fixtures in Group B.
Earlier in the day, Tunisia defeated Algeria 2-1 in the group’s other game.
The Terenga Lions are top with six points, followed by Tunisia on three while Zimbabwe and Algeria have one apiece
