Comedian Bovi has blamed Super Eagles head coach Jose Peseiro for his team’s defeat against Cote d’Ivoire in the final of the just concluded Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
The match ended on a disappointing note for Nigeria as the Super Eagles were beaten 2-1 by the Elephants of Cote d’Ivoire on Sunday night.
Franck Kessie and Sebastien Haller scored to hand the trophy to the host at the Alassane Quattara Olympic Stadium in Abidjan.
Reacting on his X account Bovi blamed coach Peseiro’s tactics for the three-time African champions’ defeat.
The 44-year-old faulted Peseiro’s strategy of relying on defense rather than attack, stressing that he would have still been pissed even if Nigeria had won.
A frustrating end, Stanley Nwabali apologises for loss to Cote d’Ivoire
Bovi wrote: “Blame the coach. We are a footballing nation of flare. Fluidity, through passes, dribbles, attack. Not all out defence. Even if we’d won, I would still be pissed. The style was evidently alien to the players.”
