Everton forward, Henry Onyekuru, has expressed joy after being called up for the clash against South and Uganda.
The Galatasaray loanee was invited as a replacement for injured Odion Ighalo.
The 21-year-old, who himself is recovering from an injury, promised to justify his inclusion, by giving his best to ensure Nigeria qualifies for next year’s Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
“Always excited to be called up to the national team. It is a great honour for me and I promise to give my best if given the chance to play,” he was quoted by AOIFootball.
“So gutted for the injury to Ighalo, he has been very instrumental to the team over the last few months and his impact will definitely be missed.
“I wish him quick recovery from the injury.”
Onyekuru will now battle it out with the likes of Isaac Success, Victor Osimhen and Kelechi Iheanacho for who gets the nod to lead the Eagles against the Bafana Bafana in Soweto.
