Super Eagles coach, Sunday Oliseh, has expressed his thoughts about the Pharaohs of Egypt ahead of the clash between the two African power-houses.
Oliseh, who has been on the spotlight lately for the wrong reasons, finally gave Nigerians something to cheer about as they anticipate an explosive game against the most successful side on the continent.
Both nations lock horns on March 25 in an Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium, Kaduna, with the two-time African champions in need of victory.
Oliseh has been watching footages of the record seven-time African champions and he described Hector Cuper’s side as a one-man team that depend solely on the speed of Roma winger, Mohamed Salah, and occasionally could be sloppy at the back and in the middle.
The 41-year-old is optimistic that with the fans behind his lads, they can overcome the Egyptians.
“I have watched some tapes of Egypt. They are a result-oriented team who foul a lot in defence and midfield and depend on the speed of (Mohamed) Salah,” Oliseh said on Wednesday.
“But we’re Nigeria, we’re playing at home and we have our own stars.
“I saw the league match between Kano Pillars and Rangers and saw the capacity fans. If the Kaduna fans can be like that, they will be the 12th man to cheer the Eagles to victory. I’m optimistic.”
Egypt lead the qualifying group for the 2017 AFCON with six points from two matches, two points ahead of Nigeria with only the group winners guaranteed an automatic spot at the final tournament in Gabon.
