Ahead of the double-header Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers against Libya, Super Eagles duo, Moses Simon and Kenneth Omeruo have expressed optimism.
The Eagles are at home to the Group E leaders in Uyo on Saturday, before taking on the same opponents in their adopted home in Algeria a few days later.
Libya currently leads the way in the group following a goalless draw away to South Africa in Durban in their most recent encounter.
Nigeria got their campaign back on track with a 3-0 thumping of Seychelles in Victoria having suffered a surprise 2-0 defeat at home to Bafana Bafana last year.
“We all want to be part of next year’s Africa Cup of Nations. We will take our chances in both games and give our best,” Simon was quoted by CompleteSports on Tuesday.
“We urge our fans to wear green and white and fill up the stadium on match day.
Simon is back in the team after missing out on a place in their 2018 FIFA World Cup squad in Russia due to injury.
He also missed the last qualifying fixture against Seychelles as a result of an injury.
Similarly, Leganes defender, Omeruo, is confident that Nigeria will build on their recent win while urging the country’s faithful to come out in support of the Super Eagles this weekend.
“We will be up against a strong Libyan side but we are the Super Eagles and we have a great squad,” Omeruo is quoted as saying by the NFF’s official Twitter page.
“We will give our all to pick maximum six points from both games.
“I have confidence in the entire crew. We urge all our fans to get behind us and give us all the support. We will not disappoint you all.”
