National Youth President of Afenifere, Eniola Ojajuni, has revealed that Fulani herdsmen were behind his abduction on February 17.
Ojajuni, who is still receiving medical treatment, shared his experience in a Facebook post on Friday, expressing gratitude to those who supported him during the ordeal.
“I was kidnapped by Fulani herdsmen on the 17th of February on my way to Abuja in Akunnu Akoko around 1:42 p.m.,” he wrote.
“I’m undergoing serious medical treatment. Besides, I want to use this opportunity to thank everyone who supported me massively—financially, spiritually, and by calling my dear wife for words of encouragement. Once I’m out of the hospital bed, I’ll come out to appreciate you all specially.”
Ojajuni was abducted while traveling to Abuja, and a video later surfaced online showing him pleading for help as his captors threatened to kill him if ransom was not paid.
Following his abduction, the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, ordered the Intelligence Response Team (IRT) to track down the kidnappers and secure his release.
Ojajuni was freed days later after a ransom of at least N17 million was reportedly paid.
