Africa’s first male newscaster, Kunle Olasope, has been buried in his hometown in Efon-Alaaye, Ekiti State.
A funeral service was held in his honour on Friday at St. Paul’s Anglican Church, Idagba Street, Efon-Alaaye Diocese.

Pa Olasope died in Ibadan, Oyo State, on October 6 at the age of 82.
He was until his passage chairman of the board of trustees of Efon Development League.
Olasope was the first male television broadcaster in Africa when Western Nigeria Television (WNTV) was established in Ibadan by the Western Regional Government of Obafemi Awolowo.
The ace broadcaster was a recipient of many awards.
He was also honoured with the Member of the Order of Niger by the Federal Government.

Olasope was chief press secretary to the former Ogun State Governor Olabisi Onabanjo between 1979 and 1983.
He was also the chairman of Ekiti State Broadcasting Service during the administration of ex-governor Adeniyi Adebayo.
