Super Eagles forward, Ahmed Musa, has praised his former CSKA teammate, Sergey Ignashevich, who has announced his retirement from football.
The Leicester City player, who was on loan to the Russian club last season described the veteran as a “fantastic leader.”
Ignashevich, 38, who started for Russia in all of their five 2018 World Cup matches, announced his retirement from football after their quarter-final defeat to Croatia and elimination from the tournament.
Musa who returns to his Premier League club after scoring two goals for Nigeria at the World Cup also wished Ignashevich well in the next stage of his career.
“What a fantastic leader you are. You have had a wonderful career and one a footballer could dream of having. You were a great teammate to me at CSKA and I enjoyed our moments together. Enjoy the next stage of your life my friend,” Musa posted on Instagram.
Ignashevich is Russia’s most capped player with 127 international appearances.
The central defender also helped Russia reach the semi-finals at Euro 2008.
He won 17 domestic trophies with CSKA in a 15-year spell at the club and captained the side to their UEFA Cup triumph in 2005.
