Super Eagles skipper Ahmed Musa on Wednesday paid tributes to his mother who died on January 24, 2019.
The former Leicester City player shared photos of his mother on social media, noting that he could not believe she had been gone for five years.
“In Loving Memory of my wonderful mum ✨🌹Cant believe five years have passed, yet your love and warmth continue to surround me every day,” he wrote.
“Remembering your beautiful soul, endless wisdom, and unwavering love you shared. Your legacy lives on in my heart. 💖🕊️Continue to rest in perfect peace.”
Ex-Nigeria internationals Ogenyi Onazi, Vincent Enyeama, and Odion Ighalo among others urged Musa, in the comment section of the post, to be strong.
Before his mum died, Musa prayed for her in a social media post to get better.
“I am sure being tucked in bed is not the best thing you know to do. All your children are waiting for you to get out of bed and say ‘I am back in action’. Get well soon Sweet Mum!” He wrote.
Musa has not made an appearance for the Super Eagles after three matches at the ongoing AFCON 2023 in Cote d’Ivoire.
