Leicester City legend, Alan Young, is excited that the club broke their transfer record to bring Ahmed Musa to the King Power Stadium.
Musa, 23, is the Foxes’ all-time record signing after his £16m move from Russian champions, CSKA Moscow.
The Super Eagles forward bagged 54 goals in 168 games for the Militarians before his switch to the Barclays Premier League champions.
And Young, himself a former record signing from Oldham in 1979, is thrilled to have the Nigerian in Leicester but advised him to be focused.
“You have to be excited that City have broken their transfer record to sign this lad,” Young told the Leicester Mercury on Tuesday.
“We need to continue the way we are progressing as a team and a club, and to stay where we are then we have to spend the money. We have to be big hitters like the other big clubs.
“We need more quality, especially with the Champions League campaign coming up. We have to keep what we have got and add more quality. That is what they are doing.
“But Musa just needs to focus on what he is doing, work hard and give this opportunity everything he has got.
“How much a club is prepared to pay for him is out of his control, but what he can do on the pitch is his domain. That is what he can affect.
“I hope he proves to be a great success,” Young said.
Musa has teamed up with the Premier League champions on their pre-season tour of Austria, and will then subsequently continue the tour in Los Angeles and Sweden in preparation for the new 2016/17 season.
