Edo State Governor Godwin Obaseki on Friday paid tributes to the former chief of naval administration Rear Admiral Joe Aikhomu who died on Thursday in Abuja.
He described the deceased as his “good friend and great supporter”, adding that Edo has lost a son.
“I received the news of the passing of former Chief of Naval Administration and Chairman of Ocean Marine Solutions (OMS) with shock and sadness,” said Mr Obaseki.
“Admiral Aikhomu was a good friend and great supporter. An unrelenting patriot, the late Admiral was a fine, well cultured and disciplined naval officer, who was a symbol of hard work, diligence and forthrightness. We have lost a true Edo son.
“I share the grief of his immediate family, the good people of Edo State and indeed the entire Nigeria. I pray that God grants us all the fortitude to bear this devastating loss and may his soul rest in peace.”
Aikhomu was the younger brother to the late former military Vice President Admiral Augustus Aikhomu (retd).
