An Air Peace aircraft with a sick traveller caused panic on Tuesday on arrival from Lagos at the Mallam Aminu International Airport in Kano.
The pilot refused to open the door to allow passengers disembark at the airport.
It was gathered that the pilot feared the sick person who vomited on the aircraft could be infected with the coronavirus.
The pilot was said to have alerted airport officials of the sick passenger.
Co-chair, Kano State Task Force on COVID-19, Prof. Abdul Razak Habib, said the young man did not have symptoms of COVID-19.
“The case is a young man of 17 years old and a first-timer boarding aircraft. Hence the boy boarded the aircraft for the first time and developed phobia,” he said.
However, media adviser to Kano State Governor, Salihu Yakasai, said health officials who were on board the plane suspect the young man might have malaria fever.
