Chairman and CEO of Air Peace Allen Onyema on Thursday met with President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
A statement on Friday by the company said Mr Onyema met the president to discuss the achievements of Tinubu’s “renewed hope agenda” in the aviation industry.
Onyema was quoted commending the president for his efforts in implementing policies aimed at stabilising business operations across Nigeria, particularly in the aviation sector.
“The president is a businessman, and he is trying to stabilise businesses with his policies, but people don’t realise this. Some of us in business understand what the President is trying to do, and we appreciate him, especially in the aviation industry.
“What he is doing is the real restructuring of the country. Many Nigerians think restructuring means dividing the country along regional lines, but what Tinubu is doing is genuine restructuring by changing how we operate as a nation to achieve better results in the long term,” Onyema added.
Last week, the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) started an inquiry into widespread consumer complaints against Air Peace, Guaranty Trust Bank and MTN.
The commission’s director of corporate affairs Ondaje Ijagwu said in a statement that the inquisitions are intended to address issues of poor service delivery, exploitative practices and potential consumer rights violations.
However, the airline denied the allegations stating that the aviation sector is regulated by the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) and that if there are any issues regarding any aviation company, there are proper channels and processes to follow.
