The First Lady, Aisha Buhari, has thrown her weight behind Adamawa State Governor, Mohammed Bindow, who is seeking re-election.
Mrs Buhari’s brother, Halilu Modibbo, contested the state party’s governorship ticket with the incumbent Bindow.
Mr Modibbo had even threatened court action over alleged forged secondary school certificate submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) by Bindow.
However, Mrs Buhari, represented by a former military administrator of Lagos State and Chairman of the Central Working Committee of the team, Mohammed Marwa, on Friday urged the Adamawa electorate at a campaign rally in Yola to vote Bindow and her husband, President Muhammadu Buhari, and other APC candidates in the state.
“The fact that my younger brother (Dr Halilu Modibbo) competed in the APC governorship primary which brought about the emergence of Bindow as the governorship candidate of the party in Adamawa State doesn’t mean that I’m not going to support Bindow.
“Bindow and Modibbo are the same to me and they are my younger brothers. We should play politics with maturity and tolerance for the future of our dear state and our nation,” she said.
