Wife of the President, Aisha Buhari, returned to Nigeria on Saturday afternoon from Umrah (lesser pilgrimage) to Mecca.
Mrs. Buhari arrived the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, at about 3:15.
She was received on arrival by aides and associates including wife of Senate President, Toyin Saraki, and former Deputy Governor of Plateau State, Pauline Tallen.
”I thank God for journey mercies, I prayed for Nigeria and Nigerian leaders and we should not relent in prayers and good deeds,” she said.
She urged Nigerians not to relent in their prayers and good deeds for Nigeria to prosper among the comity of nations.
She expressed her gratitude to God for her successful trip, and prayed for Nigerians and her leaders.
Mrs. Buhari also expressed her gratitude to all Nigerians for the support for President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration and also urged them to sustain the tempo.
”I want to use this opportunity to thank all Nigerians for the goodwill and support for my husband and Nigeria in general,” she said.
Nigerians had wondered at the whereabouts of Mrs Buhari after images of her and the President who is on medical vacation in London went viral on Sunday, January 29.
Daily Post reported on Thursday that Director of Information in the Office of Wife of the President, Suleiman Haruna, confirmed Mrs Buhari was out of the country on lesser hajj and was not predisposed to speak on the health of her husband.
President Buhari travelled to the UK on January 19 for what Aso Rock spokesman, Femi Adesina, said was part of his annual vacation.
“During the vacation, the president will also undergo routine medical check-ups,” Adesina said, adding that Vice President Yemi Osinbajo would be acting President until his boss returns.
The President, however, announced an extension of his leave on Sunday, February 5, a day before he was expected to resume, citing the need to wait for results of tests conducted by doctors in the United Kingdom.
