First lady Aisha Buhari on Tuesday took the incoming first lady Oluremi Tinubu on a tour of the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
Mrs Buhari showed her some strategic areas of the official residence of the first family in the Aso Rock Villa.
The first lady explained that the Glass House in the villa is the transitional home of the first family.
She also said the house is specifically meant for presidents preparing to hand over to a new administration.
Mrs Buhari said: “The highly secured residential area of the president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria is strictly to serve as an accomodation for the president and members of the family.”
She added that the Glass House is an accomodation for outgoing presidents to pave way for necessary renovations on the main house for the incoming president and his family.
The villa has been Mrs Buhari’s home since 2015 when her husband President Muhammadu Buhari made history by being the first to defeat an incumbent president.
President Buhari was re-elected for a second term of four years in 2019.
Journalists were not allowed access to some parts of the building during the tour.
Responding, Mrs Tinubu expressed appreciation to the first lady for the warm reception accorded her.
She promised to work tirelessly for the benefit of all Nigerians.
Mrs Buhari’s tour of the villa with the incoming first lady came on the heels of the 10th General Assembly summit of the African First Ladies Peace Mission (AFLPM) in Abuja.
Mrs Buhari hosted the first ladies on Monday in Abuja.
Buhari will hand over leadership to President-elect Bola Tinubu on May 29 in line with the 1999 Constitution.
