Security aides of the First Lady Aisha Buhari have been released four days after they were taken into custody over a shooting incident at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
The Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, ordered their release on Monday.
A senior officer told The PUNCH that the officers, including Mrs Buhari’s Aide-de-Camp, Usman Shugaba; the escort commander, Sheriff Kazeem, and four riot policemen, have been released but told to return for further interrogation on Tuesday.
“They were released on Monday but they are expected to return for investigation on Tuesday,” the source said.
The officers were detained last Friday after Thursday’s clash with a nephew and Personal Assistant to the President, Sabiu Yusuf.
The first lady and three of her children – Zahra, Halima and Yusuf – had stormed Yusuf’s residence at House 8 by the Pilot Gate of the Presidential Villa insisting he must self-isolate for 14 days after recently returning from Lagos.
