Activist Aisha Yesufu has reacted to claims that she is only interested in bringing down social media influencer Martins Otse alias VeryDarkMan.

The influencer has been in the news over audio recordings he published on social media where crossdresser Bobrisky made allegations of bribery against officials of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS).

VeryDarkMan also alleged that rights activist Femi Falana and his son Falz were involved in the scandal.

Mrs Yesufu has been critical of VeryDarkMan over the allegations.

In an X post on September 28, the activist said her concern was only about people’s reputations.

Yesufu wrote, “I have just seen an accusation that all I am interested in is to bring VDM down. As in because I want to do his work or I want to be helping people?

“I have said here severally, I do not want to help people. I just want people to not need my help and anyone that takes on whatever, actually helps me to be my lazy self.

“Anyway, whether anyone is fighting for anyone or not, it doesn’t give anyone the right to tarnish anyone’s hard-earned reputation.

“Also that someone has a name is not a reason for them to not fight those who try to tarnish their reputation.”

VeryDarkMan will on Monday, September 30 testify before the House of Representatives joint committee on financial crimes and reformatory institutions investigating the bribery allegations.

EFCC chairman Ola Olukoyode and controller-general of NCoS Haliru Nababa are also expected to appear before the committee.
