AIT anchor Gbenga Aruleba has recounted his battle with Sciatica, which kept him hospitalised for two months.

In videos shared on his Facebook page on Saturday, Aruleba expressed gratitude to his family, friends and medical staff who stood by him throughout his recovery journey.

The first clip shows Aruleba being assisted from his hospital bed into a wheelchair by nurses.

Fellow journalist Lara Wise presents him with a bouquet as he prepares to leave the hospital. Aruleba, visibly emotional, offers a heartfelt prayer for everyone, with Lara joining in.

He captioned the video: “My journey through the valley of death, but still standing. It could only have been Baba God. Thanks to Family, Friends, Alliance Hospitals and its crop of wonderful nurses, My wife, Lara Wise, Smith, Bayo, Tosin, Funmi, the leader of the squad, Roluks 4 Real, ‘My dear’ Shade Omonishaye.

“The stormy Petrel Funmilayo Emokpae, Ever present Yomi Odunuga that never made me believe I was in a hospital, hmmmm, have I left anyone out, please forgive me. I owe it all to you. And to the millions of unseen hands and tongues that were holding me up and praying for me, I made it through your prayers and the Grace of God, The Great Architect of our lives and the giver of Life. It can only be BETTER.”

In another video, Aruleba is seen lying shirtless in a hospital bed as a doctor performs a painful procedure to insert a central line after his veins collapsed.

He described the experience as “one of the worst days,” recalling the intense pain and the scars he still bears from the procedure. Aruleba expressed thanks to Lara Wise, calling her the “accurate record keeper” who has now lifted the embargo on all sensitive materials in her custody.

Aruleba, “One of the worst days too, when a central line had to be constructed, after all veins disappeared and some urgent transfusions were required. Very painful moment. I still bear the scars of this particular procedure. Hmmmm. Thanks, Lara Wise, the accurate record keeper who has now lifted the embargo on all sensitive materials in her custody.”

In yet another video, Aruleba is seen with Pastor Toyin Ajolore, who is praying for him.

The AIT presenter wrote, “One of those uncertain moments. Thank you, Pastor Toyin Ajolore. More anointing, Sir. Laraaaa. Hmmmm. Thanks a lot.”

in July 2024, Aruleba revealed on Facebook that he had returned home from Alliance Hospital in Lagos after almost two months of treatment for Sciatica.
