Florence Ajimobi, widow of the former governor of Oyo State Abiola Ajimobi, has expressed sorrow over the death of Oyo APC chairman, Ajiboye Omodewu.
Mr Omodewu, a lawyer, died on Monday in the United States after months of treatment.
Describing the news as deeply shocking and unexpected, Mrs. Ajimobi noted that Omodewu, who served as Commissioner for Lands, Housing, and Urban Development during her late husband’s administration, still had much to contribute to the party and the people of Oyo state.
She said: “With a deep sense of loss and grief, I write on behalf of myself and the family of Senator Abiola Ajimobi to commiserate with the family of Hon Ajiboye Isaac Omodewu and the progressives family in Oyo State over the totally unexpected and shocking death of the party Chairman, Hon Ajiboye Isaac Omodewu.
“The late APC chairman was someone I knew so well having worked closely as Commissioner for lands during the administration of my late husband, Senator Abiola Ajimobi of blessed memory.
“As a Commissioner, he was hard-working and diligent in his duties and he was held in high esteem by my husband. When he eventually became the State party chairman, he was also someone that I related cordially with. His death, thus came as a shock to me.”
Mrs Ajimobi said Omodewu’s death has left a huge vacuum due to his invaluable contribution to Oyo APC.
She added: “He died at the most unexpected time, his death came at a painful period especially now when his contribution to the unity and peace of the party is needed.
“With his death, there is no doubt that his immediate and extended families, the progressives’ family in Oyo State and Nigeria have lost a dedicated party man and an illustrious son of Otu in Itesiwaju Local government of Oyo State.”
She commiserated with the bereaved family, friends, associates and Oyo APC.
