Ondo State Governor Rotimi Akeredolu has opened an early lead against his challengers for the governorship seat.
Following the announcement of results in 12 local government areas, Akeredolu is leading his opponents with over 84,011 votes, according to TheCable.
The local governments are Ile Oluji, Akoko North-East, Akoko South-West, Akoko South-East, Akoko North-West, Irele, Ose, Ifedore, Owo, Okitipupa, Akure North-West, and Idanre.
At the time of this report, Akeredolu has registered 189,489 votes while Eyitayo Jegede of the Peoples Democratic Party has 108,195 votes leaving a margin of 74,735.
However, Agboola Ajayi of the Zenith Labour Party has 37,806 votes.
The three front-runners dominated majority of the polling units in their local governments of origin.
Akeredolu swept most of Ondo North, likewise Jegede in Ondo Central and Ajayi in Ondo South.
The polls held on Saturday were reported to be largely peaceful.
Meanwhile, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) will resume collation of results at 9 am on Sunday.
