The family of the late ex-governor of Ondo State Rotimi Akeredolu has announced he will be buried on February 23, 2024.
A statement signed by the deceased’s son Rotimi Akeredolu Jnr on behalf of the family on Monday said the former governor will be buried in his Owo hometown.
Part of the statement read, “With hearts overflowing with gratitude, the entire Akeredolu family wishes to extend our deepest appreciation to all those who have extended their warmth and compassion to us during this trying time, following the unfortunate transition of our beloved patriarch, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, CON, former Governor of Ondo State (February 2017 – December 2023).
“The outpouring of love we have received has been nothing short of a deluge, and for that, we are profoundly grateful.

“Your unwavering display of affection has touched our souls in immeasurable ways, and mere words cannot adequately express our gratitude.

The burial programme will take place in Ibadan, Akure, and Owo.
The programme lineup includes services of songs, commendation services, special court sessions, candlelight procession and world gyration by the Kegites Club, among others.
The funeral service will take place at St. Andrew’s Anglican Church, Owo, and then followed by an interment on February 23, 2024.
Akeredolu passed away at the age of 67 in Germany on December 27, 2023, after a battle with prostate cancer.
