Lawyer and entrepreneur, Audu Maikori, says he is disappointed at the Minister of Niger Delta, Godswill Akpabio, for ‘personal attacks’ at the immediate past acting Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Joy Nunieh.
Nunieh has accused the minister of several things – bombing a pipeline, attempting to make her take oath of secrecy, threatening to remove her from office if she did not do his bidding, among others.
In response to the allegations, Akpabio, during an appearance on Arise News, told his interviewer to get Nunieh’s alleged four ex-husbands to the show and ask them of her temper.
However, Maikori who co-founded Chocolate City Entertainment tweeted on Sunday, accusing Akpabio of gender insensitivity.
“I am disappointed at Minister Akpabio’s personal attacks as a response to the corruption allegations leveled against him by Ms Nunieh. If she was a man would he ask for his ex-wives to be interviewed as proof of his competence or mental state? Gender equality & neutrality is key,” he wrote.
A Senate ad hoc committee is currently investigating alleged financial recklessness and misappropriation of N40 billion by the interim management committee of the NDDC which Nunieh headed between October 2019 and May this year.
