Akpabio leads Natasha Akpoti, others to Saraki’s Abuja residence on condolence visit

Senate President Godswill Akpabio on Tuesday led a number of senators to the Abuja residence of one of his predecessors Bukola Saraki over the death of his mother Florence Saraki.

Mrs Saraki, the family’s matriarch, died on June 18 at age 89.

Among those who accompanied Akpabio on the visit were the Deputy Senate President Jibrin Barau and Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan.

Saraki shared photos of their visit on Instagram.

“Today, His Excellency, Senator Godswill Akpabio, the Senate President, and Senator Jibrin Barau, the Deputy Senate President, along with other distinguished senators, paid a condolence visit to my Abuja residence following the passing of my mother,” he wrote.

Among those who have also paid the Saraki family a visit to commiserate with them are Aliko Dangote, Udom Emmanuel, Pastor Ituah Ighodalo, Lai Mohammed, Peter Obi, Shehu Sani, Ibikunle Amosun, Farooq Oreagba, Governor Godwin Obaseki, Governor Dapo Abiodun, Olu Okeowo, Abdulfatah Ahmed, and Aigboje Aig-Imoukhuede.

Others are Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke and elder brother Adedeji Adeleke, former Ogun State governor Segun Osoba, former Ekiti State governor Kayode Fayemi, former Delta State governor James Ibori and Senator Dino Melaye.

In announcing his mum’s death, Saraki had said in a statement, “With profound sadness and total submission to the will of Almighty God, I announce the passing of my beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and matriarch, Chief Mrs. Florence Morenike Saraki, who peacefully transitioned today, Tuesday, June 18, 2024.

“Details regarding funeral arrangements will be shared in due course. We appreciate your love, prayers, and support as we mourn Mama’s passing.”
