The Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) Akwa Ibom state chapter has directed its members to shun a press conference planned for former aviation minister Femi Fani-Kayode.
The chapter in a statement on Friday asked journalists not to attend any activity organised by the former minister.
Fani-Kayode arrived Akwa Ibom on Thursday and was received by Governor Udom Emmanuel in continuation of his tour of the southern region.
He had visited Cross River last week where he verbally assaulted a Daily Trust journalist Eyo Charles who asked if there was someone bankrolling the tour.
When the video of the incident went viral on Tuesday, Fani-Kayode insisted he was right to have acted in that manner.
He apologised the following day saying he had consulted with his advisors.
