Queen Badirat Adeyemi, the estranged wife of the late Alaafin of Oyo Oba Lamidi Adeyemi, has given a hint to why her marriage to the king failed.
The queen, who is also known as Queen Ola, said in an Instagram post on Monday that her marriage to the monarch failed when people she referred to as “they” found out she was his favourite.
“We were practically best of friends but the moment they had an inklings about whom your favorite was, everything flopped,” she said.
Queen Ola, who had once said she was the king’s energy, had several children with the Alaafin.
Oba Adeyemi died last Friday in a hospital at the age of 83.
Commenting further, Queen Ola said in her post, “Alas! the kids and I can’t see you anymore nor converse with you any longer but I vehemently believe you are seeing us, how I wish we can still have few words because I’ve got a whole lot to tell you.
“I’m bereft of what to tell the boys especially, Adejuwon, because at his age, he reads and and surf the net so much that curiosity gets hold of him and has already know a lot about you.”
She added that the late monarch remains the “best father, teacher and mentor and husband that ever bestrode the landscapes.”
