Princess Adedoja Adeyemi, daughter of the Alaafin of Oyo Oba Lamidi Adeyemi, has bagged a master’s degree from the University of Lagos (UNILAG).
The first-class monarch was present at the 52nd convocation ceremony held on Thursday, January 20 alongside other members of the family.
Adedoja bagged a distinction (4.63/5.0) in African and Diaspora Studies.
The former Miss Oyo State emerged as the best graduating student from the Institute of African and Diaspora Studies, setting a record for the institute.
A message on the university’s website said she was the first student to bag a distinction from the Institute of African and Diaspora Studies since its establishment in 2017.
The beautiful princess shared her convocation pictures on Instagram.
“Masters Degree bagged. Masters of Art in African and Diaspora Studies, University of Lagos (with a distinction- Best Graduating Student, Institute of African and Diaspora Studies.) Alhamdulillah,” she wrote.
Oba Adeyemi, who is the chancellor of the University of Maiduguri, also shared photos from the event on his Instagram page.
“The daughter of the Alaafin of Oyo also graduated from the Master’s program in the category of first-class from the department of History and international studies,” he wrote in one post.
Also present at the convocation ceremony was Abubakar El-Kanemi, the Shehu of Borno and UNILAG chancellor; and also the vice-chancellor of UNILAG, Prof. Oluwatoyin Ogundipe
Oba Adeyemi and his wives took pictures with members of staff of the department of history and international studies.
The Alaafin, who was visibly proud of his daughter, entertained the public with royal dance steps.
Several personalities such as Yoruba actor Muyideen Oladapo aka Lala and Gboyega Akosile, the chief press secretary of Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, also bagged bachelor and master’s degrees respectively from the university.
