Prince Abdulfatai Adeyemi, son of the late Alaafin of Oyo Oba Lamidi Adeyemi, has died.
Fondly called D-Gov, Adeyemi died in the early hours of Friday, a day before his 47th birthday.
The Oyo prince is said to have died of diabetes at the University College Hospital in Ibadan, Oyo State.
PUNCH reports that a source in the palace confirmed the development.
“Yes, he died this morning. Many people have also called me to confirm his demise. I was also weak when I received the news,” the source was quoted as saying.

Adeyemi contested for the seat of Oyo Federal Constituency on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party in 2019 but lost the election to the incumbent at the time, Akeem Adeyemi, his brother fondly called Skimeh.
He was appointed by Governor Seyi Makinde as chairman of the Oyo State Local Government Pension Board in his first term.
Oba Lamidi died on April 22, 2022, at the age of 83. He spent 52 years on the throne.
