Former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Ghali Na’abba is not dead, contrary to speculations on social media.
Refuting the story, Na’abba who is currently in London, declared: “For the information of all my colleagues, I’m hale and hearty here in London.
“I will be back in Abuja as soon as flights are available.”
The false news that the 62-year-old died of coronavirus started on Friday morning and gained traction after Sahara Reporters published it on its website.
The online news medium has deleted the post.
Another online news platform, thenewsguru.com, quoted members of the politician’s family as saying he his hale and hearty.
A younger brother of the former speaker, Usman Na’abba, was quoted as saying “our brother is strong healthy and alive, he is not dead…and he is not sick of Covid-19.
“Please ignore the rumours.”
The Sun, which also published the story, has retracted it and apologised.
