Super Eagles and Everton forward Alex Iwobi has joined the call for the scrapping of the notorious Special-Anti Robbery Squad (SARS) of the Nigerian police.
The 24-year-old made the call on social media after Nigeria lost a friendly match against Algeria on Friday.
Expressing regret over the outcome of the match, the former Arsenal player added, “on a more serious note, we need to put an end to what’s going on in Naija.”
His sentiment is shared by Chelsea duo Tammy Abraham and Fikayo Tomori.
Both players, who chose to play for England instead of Nigeria, want police brutality ended in their country of origin.
There have been protests in different parts of Nigeria by young people who are calling for the disbandment of SARS.
Solidarity rallies have also been held in the UK, Canada and US among other places.
