Ex-Nigeria international Nwankwo Kanu has been named chairman of Enyimba FC of Aba, Abia State.
Rumour of his appointment leaked a fortnight ago. It was however confirmed in a statement on Tuesday by Governor Alex Otti’s chief press secretary Kazie Uko.
The two-time CAF Player of the Year will be replacing the club’s longest serving chairman Felix Anyansi who was in charge of the team for 24 years.
Otti also appointed a former director of corporate communication of the Central Bank of Nigeria Ugochukwu Okoroafor as his special adviser on monitoring and evaluation.
The governor appointed the director general of his campaign council Iheanacho Obioma as his special adviser on political affairs.
He also appointed former Eaglets coach John Obuh as chairman of Abia Warriors FC while Boniface Uche emerged chairman of Abia Comets FC.
Also in the 30-man list are Prof Ijeoma Iheukwumere – SSA on environment, Odinakachi Eme – SSA on multilateral and donor agencies, Nwaka Inem – special adviser on trade, commerce and industry; Magdalene Ugoanusi – SSA on local government and chieftaincy affairs and Martins Justice – special assistant on tourism and entertainment.

Others are Ishmael Onuoha – SSA on cooperative societies, George Chidozie – SSA on special duties, Pastor Okorougo Aji – special assistant on lands and housing, Obioma Nwogbe – SSA on transport, Chukwunenye Alajemba – SSA on homeland security, Joshua Onyeike – general manager, ASOPADEC and Pastor Dike Nwankwo – director general of Abia State Orientation Agency.
Also in the list are Uloaku Ukaegbu – director, Abia State Agency for Control of AIDS, Eric Egwuibe – SSA on budget and planning, Anthony Nwaubani – SSA on finance, Ogbonnia Okereke, GM, ASEPA, Daniel Chinagozi – special assistant on digital economy, Chinedu Ekeke – deputy chief of staff (cum SSA on sports and youth development), Oluebube Chukwu – SSA, due process, and Apostle Kenneth Wiper – special assistant on religious activities.
The rest include Col. Ezichi Kalu (rtd) – general manager, Abia State Road Traffic and Safety Management Agency (ARTSMA), Mathilda Anyamele – special assistant, special duties, Chinwe Uba – special assistant, women mobilisation, Chinwe Onyeukwu – special assistant, women affairs and Benson Nwaigburu, GM, Abia State Debt Management Office.
