Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi and Governor of Abia State, Alex Otti, are among prominent figures who attended Onyeka Onwenu’s funeral.
Family, friends, and colleagues gathered early Friday at the Fountain of Life Church in Ilupeju, Lagos, for a service of songs to bid farewell to the celebrated artiste.
The ceremony began with a solemn hymn, marking the arrival of Onyeka Onwenu’s body, which was accompanied by pallbearers dressed in traditional Igbo attire.
Her two sons, Tijani and Abraham Ogunlende, were by her side.
Following the service, her body was taken to a private vault in Ikoyi for interment.
The event, attended by a select group of friends, saw the presence of notable personalities, including Orits Wiliki and flautist TeeMac Omatshola-Itseli.
Recall that Alex Otti and Peter Obi were present at the birthday party of Emzor Pharmaceuticals founder Stella Okoli, where Onyeka Onwenu performed before her death.
She died aged 72.
